What's New

Every ChessSolve update, in plain language — what changed and why it matters. Have an idea? Tell us.

v2.8.3

More accurate Brilliant (!!) move badges on the board — now graded the way Chess.com does.

  • Improved

Quiet sacrifices now count as Brilliant

A piece offered on an empty square — a knight or queen sacrifice that doesn't capture anything — is now correctly rewarded with the !! badge, and a sacrifice is no longer flagged as brilliant when you were already completely winning.

  • Fixed

Brilliant (!!) moves are recognised correctly

The move-quality badge now spots genuine sacrifices — where you give up real material for a winning attack — the same way Chess.com does, instead of occasionally mislabelling ordinary trades or a capture that's safely defended.

v2.8.2

Stronger analysis with Stockfish 18, smoother analysis-board navigation, and more consistent tool pages.

  • Improved

    Upgraded to Stockfish 18

Analysis now runs on Stockfish 18, the latest and strongest release of the engine — expect sharper best-move suggestions and more accurate evaluations in every position.

  • Improved

    More consistent tool pages

The Analysis, Puzzles, Board Editor and Openings pages now share one layout, and the board fills the available space cleanly on any screen size.

  • Fixed

Analysis board steps back and forward smoothly

Moving backward and forward through your moves on the analysis board now works reliably, and the evaluation bar shows up correctly on opening boards.

  • Fixed

    Plus and Premium subscription emails

Fixed an issue that affected subscription emails for Plus and Premium members.

v2.8.1

Reliable auto-stop at your daily limit, foreign-language promotions, and cleaner game-over screens.

  • Improved

Arrows hide behind the game-over popup

When the win/loss/draw popup appears on Chess.com, the arrows step out of the way — and come right back if you close it or start a new game.

  • Improved

    Redesigned upgrade prompt

The daily-limit message has a refreshed, cleaner look that matches the rest of the app.

  • Improved

Matching arrows on the website boards

The analysis board and homepage on chesssolve.com now use the same crisp, color-graded arrows as the extension.

  • Fixed

Analysis stops cleanly when you hit your daily limit

Once you reach your daily analysis limit, the extension now stops right away and shows the upgrade prompt, instead of quietly retrying on every move.

  • Fixed

Promotions work in every board language

Promoting a pawn on a Chess.com or Lichess board set to German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish or a Nordic language no longer breaks the analysis for that move.

v2.8.0

Cleaner arrows, per-move evaluation labels, and full Lichess support.

  • New

    Evaluation labels on every arrow

Each suggested move now shows how much it changes the evaluation, so you can instantly see which moves matter most and how much a weaker move gives up.

  • New

    Move classifications on Lichess

Brilliant, great, mistake and blunder badges now appear on Lichess too, matching what Chess.com already had.

  • Improved

    Redesigned arrows

Softer, rounded arrows with a subtle depth shadow and colors that stay consistent on light and dark squares.

  • Fixed

Lichess arrows are now centered correctly

Arrows used to land slightly off-center on Lichess boards; they now sit exactly on the squares.

  • Fixed

    Lichess analysis restored

A Lichess layout change had stopped the extension from reading moves during live games. It reads them again, and in a way that survives future layout tweaks.
