Every ChessSolve update, in plain language — what changed and why it matters. Have an idea? Tell us.
v2.13.1
Arrows always point at the right side of the board.
Improved
Importing a position from an image is temporarily unavailable
It was misreading photos, so we've switched it off until it's accurate again.
Fixed
Arrows no longer show moves for your opponent
On puzzles and boards without a move list, the extension sometimes analysed the wrong player's turn.
Fixed
Drawn and finished positions no longer show an error
The analysis board reported a problem instead of simply saying the game was over.
v2.13.0
Analysis now works on puzzles, studies and every other kind of board.
New
Analysis works on Lichess puzzles
Puzzles and Puzzle Streak showed no arrows at all before.
New
Boards with no move list are analysed too
Puzzle Storm, Racer, studies, broadcasts and zen mode now get arrows.
Improved
Repeated positions no longer count against your daily requests
Fixed
Positions that don't start from move one are read correctly
Practice and Learn boards were analysed as if they were a fresh game.
Fixed
Reviewing a finished game on Chess.com shows the position you're looking at
Fixed
Rare wrong move ratings in positions with a pinned piece
Fixed
Dragging a piece no longer flips the arrows to the other side
Fixed
Storm, Racer and Daily games show arrows for your side
Fixed
No more flash of oversized arrows when a page loads
v2.12.4
Analysis works again on reviewed Lichess games.
Improved
Step into one of Lichess's suggested lines and ChessSolve follows you
Improved
The reply box in your messages grows as you type
Fixed
Arrows keep coming when you review a game on Lichess
Analysis stopped at the first move Lichess marked as an inaccuracy.
v2.12.3
Only the games you play land in My Games.
Fixed
Opening someone else's game no longer saves it to your account
Only games you play through with ChessSolve running are saved.
v2.12.2
Analysis no longer stops when a pawn promotes.
Fixed
Arrows keep coming after you promote a pawn
Promoting could stop the analysis for the rest of the game.
v2.12.1
Sign-ups work on shared networks again.
Improved
Simpler daily-limit message
The limited-time half-price prompt is gone; Premium is just one price.
Fixed
You can sign up from a school, office or other shared network
New accounts on busy networks were being turned away.
v2.12.0
Steadier analysis while you play, and a new setting for page reloads.
New
Choose whether analysis resumes after a page reload
Turn it off in the popup if you'd rather start each page fresh.
Improved
Lighter on your browser during a game
Analysis does less work between moves, so game pages stay smooth.
Fixed
Opening the popup no longer clears the arrows
The board used to blank and re-analyse every time you opened the extension.
Fixed
After a rematch, review opens the game you just played
It could still offer the previous game until you reloaded the page.
v2.11.1
Review any finished game for free, straight from the Chess.com game-over box.
New
“Review on ChessSolve” button when your game ends
When a game finishes on Chess.com, a new button appears right next to Rematch. One click opens that game on the ChessSolve analysis board with every move already loaded — free and unlimited, so you can go over your game even when Chess.com's own review is locked behind their membership. It opens from your side of the board, so if you played Black you see it the way you played it.
Improved
Installing is now one click from the Chrome Web Store or Firefox Add-ons
We removed the manual ZIP download. Sign in with Google could never work on a copy installed that way, so it only led people into a broken sign-in. The one-click store buttons on the download page are the way in.
Improved
Saved games link back to the original game more reliably
Chess.com changed the web address format for live games, which meant some saved games lost the link back to the original. ChessSolve now finds the game's ID from the page itself, so the connection holds.
Fixed
The extension popup opens at the right size again
The popup could open stretched to full width with all the controls squashed into a narrow strip on the left. It now always opens as a properly sized panel.
Fixed
Saved games show both players' names
Games saved to your account were being stored without the two usernames. New saved games now record who played, so your game list is easier to read.
Fixed
Shared analysis links no longer come up blank
If a shared board link contained a move the board couldn't read, the page failed to load at all. It now loads the game up to that point instead.
v2.10.3
Clearer sign-in — the extension now tells you exactly why a login didn't work.
Improved
Email verification works the same everywhere
Signing in with an email and password now asks you to confirm your email first — the same way in the extension and on the website. Signing in with Google is unaffected, since those accounts are already verified.
Fixed
Sign-in errors now tell you the real reason
If a sign-in didn't go through, the extension used to always say “invalid email or password” — even when that wasn't the problem. Now it shows what actually happened, like needing to verify your email first, so you know exactly what to do next.
v2.10.2
Sign in with Google — one tap, no password needed.
New
Sign in with Google
You can now sign in with your Google account instead of an email and password — one tap and you're in. It works both here in the extension and on the website, and it's the same account either way.
New
Create an account without leaving the extension
New here? Choosing “Continue with Google” in the extension sets up your account instantly — no need to head to the website to register first.
Improved
Already registered? Just use Google
If you signed up with your Gmail address before, signing in with Google links to your existing account — all your games, puzzles, and subscription stay exactly as they were.
v2.9.1
Analysis now works in Chess.com's Focus Mode.
New
Works in Chess.com Focus Mode
Arrows and the eval bar now keep running with the move list hidden.
v2.9.0
Your games are now saved automatically — revisit and analyze any game you've played, right from ChessSolve.
New
Automatic game history
Every game you finish on Chess.com or Lichess is now saved to your account automatically and collected on the new My Games page. Free players keep their last 10 games; Plus and Premium keep their full, unlimited history.
New
Review past games with Stockfish
Open any saved game from My Games and step through it on the analysis board with best-move arrows and the evaluation bar — perfect for spotting exactly where a game slipped away.
New
You choose what's saved
A new “Save my games” switch in the extension settings lets you turn game saving on or off whenever you like. It's on by default — flip it off and nothing is stored.
v2.8.3
More accurate Brilliant (!!) move badges on the board — now graded the way Chess.com does.
Improved
Quiet sacrifices now count as Brilliant
A piece offered on an empty square — a knight or queen sacrifice that doesn't capture anything — is now correctly rewarded with the !! badge, and a sacrifice is no longer flagged as brilliant when you were already completely winning.
Fixed
Brilliant (!!) moves are recognised correctly
The move-quality badge now spots genuine sacrifices — where you give up real material for a winning attack — the same way Chess.com does, instead of occasionally mislabelling ordinary trades or a capture that's safely defended.
v2.8.2
Stronger analysis with Stockfish 18, smoother analysis-board navigation, and more consistent tool pages.
Improved
Upgraded to Stockfish 18
Analysis now runs on Stockfish 18, the latest and strongest release of the engine — expect sharper best-move suggestions and more accurate evaluations in every position.
Improved
More consistent tool pages
The Analysis, Puzzles, Board Editor and Openings pages now share one layout, and the board fills the available space cleanly on any screen size.
Fixed
Analysis board steps back and forward smoothly
Moving backward and forward through your moves on the analysis board now works reliably, and the evaluation bar shows up correctly on opening boards.
Fixed
Plus and Premium subscription emails
Fixed an issue that affected subscription emails for Plus and Premium members.
v2.8.1
Reliable auto-stop at your daily limit, foreign-language promotions, and cleaner game-over screens.
Improved
Arrows hide behind the game-over popup
When the win/loss/draw popup appears on Chess.com, the arrows step out of the way — and come right back if you close it or start a new game.
Improved
Redesigned upgrade prompt
The daily-limit message has a refreshed, cleaner look that matches the rest of the app.
Improved
Matching arrows on the website boards
The analysis board and homepage on chesssolve.com now use the same crisp, color-graded arrows as the extension.
Fixed
Analysis stops cleanly when you hit your daily limit
Once you reach your daily analysis limit, the extension now stops right away and shows the upgrade prompt, instead of quietly retrying on every move.
Fixed
Promotions work in every board language
Promoting a pawn on a Chess.com or Lichess board set to German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish or a Nordic language no longer breaks the analysis for that move.
v2.8.0
Cleaner arrows, per-move evaluation labels, and full Lichess support.
New
Evaluation labels on every arrow
Each suggested move now shows how much it changes the evaluation, so you can instantly see which moves matter most and how much a weaker move gives up.
New
Move classifications on Lichess
Brilliant, great, mistake and blunder badges now appear on Lichess too, matching what Chess.com already had.
Improved
Redesigned arrows
Softer, rounded arrows with a subtle depth shadow and colors that stay consistent on light and dark squares.
Fixed
Lichess arrows are now centered correctly
Arrows used to land slightly off-center on Lichess boards; they now sit exactly on the squares.
Fixed
Lichess analysis restored
A Lichess layout change had stopped the extension from reading moves during live games. It reads them again, and in a way that survives future layout tweaks.
Always on the latest version
