These terms govern your use of ChessSolve — our browser extension, website, and analysis tools. Please read them carefully; by using ChessSolve you agree to them.

Effective July 12, 2026Last updated July 12, 2026

Plain-language summary

This summary is for convenience only and is not a substitute for the full terms below. In short: ChessSolve is a chess learning and analysis tool. You are responsible for how you use it — including complying with the rules of any chess platform you play on. We provide the Service “as is”, subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled, and our liability is limited to the maximum extent the law allows.

1.Agreement to Terms

These Terms & Conditions (the “Terms”) form a legally binding agreement between you (“you” or “user”) and ChessSolve (“we”, “us”, or “our”) governing your access to and use of the ChessSolve browser extension, website at chesssolve.com, application programming interfaces, and all related tools and features (collectively, the “Service”).

By installing the extension, creating an account, or otherwise accessing or using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

2.Definitions

  • “Extension” — the ChessSolve browser extension that overlays engine analysis (for example, best-move arrows) on supported chess websites.
  • “Web Tools” — the browser-based tools on our website, including the analysis board, puzzle trainer, board editor, and openings explorer.
  • “Engine” — the chess analysis software (including Stockfish) used to generate evaluations and suggested moves.
  • “Third-Party Platform” — any external website or service you use alongside ChessSolve, such as Chess.com or Lichess.
  • “Subscription” — a paid plan (such as Plus or Premium) that unlocks additional Service capabilities.

3.Eligibility & Age Requirements

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction that sets a higher age of digital consent, you must be at least 16 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). If you are a minor in your jurisdiction, you may only use the Service with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian.

You must also be able to form a legally binding contract. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

4.Accounts & Security

Some features require an account. You agree to provide accurate information, to keep your credentials confidential, and to be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. You must verify your email address before using certain features.

You agree to notify us promptly at contact@chesssolve.com of any unauthorized use of your account or any other security breach. We are not liable for any loss arising from unauthorized use of your account where you failed to keep your credentials secure. You may not share, sell, or transfer your account or transfer a subscription to another person.

5.The Service & What It Does

ChessSolve is a chess analysis and training tool. The Extension can display engine analysis — such as evaluations and suggested moves — as an overlay while you view supported chess websites. The Web Tools let you analyze positions, solve puzzles, set up boards, and explore openings.

ChessSolve is designed and intended for learning, study, post-game analysis, and training. It is not designed for, and must not be used for, gaining an unfair advantage in live competitive or rated play in violation of any Third-Party Platform’s rules (see Section 7).

6.Acceptable Use

You agree that you will not:

  • Use the Service in any way that violates applicable law or the rights of others;
  • Use the Service to violate the rules, terms, or policies of any Third-Party Platform, including rules against engine assistance in rated or competitive games;
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service, except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by law;
  • Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of, or otherwise interfere with or disrupt, the Service or its infrastructure;
  • Access the Service through automated means, resell it, or exceed, circumvent, or attempt to circumvent any usage limits, rate limits, or tier restrictions;
  • Share, redistribute, or provide access to your account, API tokens, or paid features to third parties;
  • Use the Service to distribute malware, spam, or unlawful, infringing, or harmful content, or to harass or harm others.

7.Third-Party Platforms & Anti-Cheat

The Service may be used alongside Third-Party Platforms such as Chess.com and Lichess. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or partnered with any Third-Party Platform. All trademarks belong to their respective owners.

Many Third-Party Platforms prohibit engine assistance during certain types of play (such as rated or competitive games) and actively detect and penalize it. Your use of any Third-Party Platform is governed by that platform’s own terms, and you are solely responsible for reading and complying with them.

You are solely responsible for how you use the Service

You decide how and where to use ChessSolve. We do not monitor, control, direct, or enforce how you interact with any Third-Party Platform.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for any consequences arising from your use of the Service, including account warnings, suspensions, bans, rating loss, loss of access, forfeited purchases, or any other penalty imposed by a Third-Party Platform. Any action taken by a third party in response to your use of the Service is outside our control and is your sole responsibility.

8.Subscriptions, Billing & Refunds

Certain features require a paid Subscription. Prices, plan features, and limits are described on our Pricing page and may change over time. Payments are processed by our third-party payment processor, Stripe; we do not receive or store your full card details.

Automatic renewal

Subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring basis (for example, monthly) and renew automatically at the then-current price until cancelled. By subscribing, you authorize us and Stripe to charge your payment method for each renewal term.

Cancellation

You may cancel at any time from your account or the billing portal. Cancellation stops future renewals; your paid features remain active until the end of the current billing period, after which your account reverts to the free tier. We do not provide prorated refunds for partial periods except where required by law.

Price changes

We may change subscription prices. Any change applies to future billing periods, and, where required by law, we will give you advance notice and the opportunity to cancel before the new price takes effect.

Refunds

Except where required by applicable law (including statutory withdrawal or cooling-off rights for consumers in the EEA and UK), payments are non-refundable. If you believe you were charged in error, contact contact@chesssolve.com. Failed or reversed payments may result in immediate downgrade or suspension of paid features.

9.Free Tier, Limits & Fair Use

We offer a free tier subject to usage limits (for example, daily request or puzzle limits, analysis depth, and number of variations). These limits are described in the Service and may change. We may impose, adjust, or enforce rate limits and fair-use measures to protect the Service and ensure availability for all users. Attempting to evade these limits is a violation of these Terms.

10.Your Content & Game Data

The Service may store data you submit or generate, such as game records (positions and moves), puzzle results, and settings, to provide features like history and progress tracking. You retain any rights you have in that content.

You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, process, and use that content solely to operate and improve the Service. You represent that you have the rights necessary to submit any content you provide. Our handling of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy.

11.Intellectual Property

The Service and all related content, software, features, branding, and functionality are owned by ChessSolve or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your personal, non-commercial purposes. These Terms grant you no right to use our trademarks, logos, or branding without our prior written permission.

12.Third-Party & Open-Source Software

The Service incorporates third-party and open-source software, including the Stockfish chess engine, which is distributed under the GNU General Public License. Such components remain governed by their respective licenses, and nothing in these Terms limits your rights under those licenses. The Stockfish name and other third-party marks belong to their respective owners.

13.Availability & Changes to the Service

We aim to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, and may add, change, or remove features and limits. We are not liable to you for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service, except as required by law.

14.Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that any analysis, evaluation, or suggested move is accurate, complete, or optimal. You use the Service and rely on its output at your own risk. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so some of the above may not apply to you.

15.Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ChessSolve and its officers, employees, and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the Service, the conduct or content of any third party, or any penalty imposed by a Third-Party Platform.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve (12) months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD 50.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

16.Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ChessSolve and its representatives from any claims, damages, liabilities, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, your violation of any Third-Party Platform’s rules, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.

17.Suspension & Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, created risk or legal exposure for us, or used the Service in a way that could harm others or the Service. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law) will survive.

18.Email Communications

We may send two types of emails:

  • Service & security emails — necessary messages about your account, security, billing, or material changes to the Service or these Terms. These are sent regardless of your marketing preferences because they are required to provide the Service.
  • Marketing emails — occasional promotional messages, sent only if you have opted in. You may withdraw consent at any time via the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or by contacting us.

We do not sell or share your email address with third parties for their own marketing. See our Privacy Policy for details.

19.Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of [Governing Jurisdiction — insert country/state], without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that the courts located in [Venue — insert city/region] will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.

If you are a consumer in the EEA or UK, nothing in this section deprives you of the protection of mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts. We encourage you to contact us first at contact@chesssolve.com so we can try to resolve any dispute informally.

20.Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Effective” and “Last updated” dates above, and, for material changes, provide reasonable notice (for example, by email or an in-Service notice). Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you must stop using the Service.

21.Contact

If you have questions about these Terms, contact us at contact@chesssolve.com or via our Contact page.
